Every year 6 billion SEK of personal accident insurance compensation go unclaimed in Sweden! Why so?

One of the main reasons is that it is extremely difficult to go through the insurance claiming process, which requires both time, knowledge, and patience.

With Insurello, there is no need to understand insurance-specific language, be equipped with plenty of time, or have a specific background. We want to help all people claim their accident insurance compensation instantly online and change the insurance landscape for the better. Our vision is to rebalance the power between customers and the insurance companies, enabling fair compensation for all.

We are now looking for a thorough and proactive Data Engineer to join our international start-up and help us succeed on our growth journey. We are currently present in three markets, but our ambitions are high! We aim to continue expanding by entering new markets and providing more services to help as many people get fair compensation as we can. It also means more data that needs to be processed and analyzed in a secure and compliant way! If this makes you excited – keep reading! 🤩

The role:

Data engineering at Insurello is not only about creating pipelines! More importantly, it is about making data accessible for stakeholders in a high quality, secure and user-friendly way. We believe in the guidance that correct data can give to the company and acknowledge the potential harm that biased data can do.

The role is a part of our Tech gang, where you will join the Data Science team led by Amanda. This is how she describes herself as a manager:

1) Trusting:  my job as a manager is not to be the expert, I trust the person to do their expert act. My job is, therefore, to provide a structure and a bigger picture. 2) Kind: Friendly and caring about others' feelings, stress, happiness, interests, and passions. 3) Efficient and clear: I aim at making decisions transparently and objectively.

What you get to do:

  • Take ownership and responsibility for building and maintaining our data pipelines using state-of-the-art data and engineering technologies while scaling such systems and platforms as we grow.
  • Monitor the quality of the data pipeline with consideration for stakeholders and data privacy regulations.
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of BI tools and related systems used at Insurello.
  • Implement and monitor our machine learning models together with the rest of the team. You will also have a significant impact on what models to build next!
  • Be a part of a small and friendly data science team that finds joy in finding things out and learning new things! 🤩 We value having a supportive culture that handles both success and setbacks together.

Who we think you are:

  • You have worked a couple of years within the field of data science or data engineering, and have experience in building data pipelines
  • Experience in some or all of the techniques we use: Python, SQL, AWS, Apache Airflow, etc. Besides those, we are always open to new tools!
  • We care about data quality and there is no point in being a data-driven company if we cannot trust the data. We want someone who shares that passion!
  • We use English as our internal language, so proficiency in it will suffice!

Not sure you meet 100% of our qualifications? Please apply anyway! We are interested in hearing why you consider the Data Engineer position in Insurello as an awesome opportunity that is impossible to miss! 😎
